2009 round up

How can you describe a year when Romanov has represented GB in Aachen and Falsterbo and was short listed for the European Championships as anything but fantastic. His youngstock continue to impress with their good manners and loose jumping ability.  We hope to see some in action in the ring over the next year. 

Contido has had his first crop of foals and we were delighted with them.  He has started his showjumping career, jumping double clear at 1.10m and he has impressed many with his stunning looks and powerful jump.  He has also been dressage training and thanks must go to Stacy Munson and Ami McLean based in Bayford, Herts for their input and for letting him come home! 

With the arrival of Cirocco, we have a young stallion of impeccable breeding and much talent.

We look forward to 2010 and wish all our friends, clients etc a prosperous New Year.

30 December 2009 - Romanov finished his competition year at the World Cup show in Mechelen, Belgium.  He finished 5th in the big class on the first day but was out of luck in the Grand Prix and World Cup Qualifiers.

28 December 2009 - Happier news.  Our new stallion, Cirocco, has arrived.  Born in 2007 he is a son of Numero Uno out of the motherline, which produced the KWPN approved stallion Ovidius.  He has a fantastic temperament and is blessed with a huge, powerful jump.

23 December 2009 - Sad news.  Our foal Berbatov was put to sleep at Rossdales.  Sleep well Bertie, you will be missed.

20 Decmber - Romanov jumped clear and 4 in the Grand Prix at CSI5* La Coruna.  This was only his second 5 star Grand Prix indoors.

8 October 2009 - Tracey has been voted British Showjumping Owner of the Month for September 2009 following Romanov's National Elite Championship win at the Scope Festival

5 September 2009 - Romanov became National Elite Champion at the BSJA Scope Festival this weekend finishing ahead of Laura Renwick and Limelight de Breve in an exciting jump off.

6 August 2009 - Romanov has been included on the list of nominated entries for this year's European Showjumping Championships to be held at Windsor at the end of August.

24 July 2009 - Romanov has been on Meydan FEI Nations Cup duty for GB in Aachen and Falsterbo.  In Aachen with over 40,000 people watching he had a very respectable debut score of 5 faults, just faulting at the last fence.  Unfortunately the team did not progress to the second round.  In Falsterbo Philip and Romanov joined Peter Charles, Geoff Billington and Guy Williams on the team and they jumped two rounds for 4 faults each - the team finished 5th.

27 June 2009 -  Romanov and Philip Spivey have been selected for the British Nations Cup Team in Aachen next week.  Philip and Romanov will be making their debut in the Meydan Top Level Nations Cup series and will join Peter Charles, Geoff Billington and Gemma Plumley on the team.

14 June 2009 - Romanov finished 5th in the Grand Prix at CSI3* Ponte de Lima behind the winner Graham Lovegrove on Pandur.

7 April 2009 - Contido is a father for the first time.  Gilly Horn's mare Shannon produced a beautiful bay filly, Velvet, this morning.  Congratulations Gilly.

3 April 2009 - Our broodmare Duette is a proud mother.  Two of her sons have been competing well in the early part of this season with Philip Spivey.  Her 10 year old son, the BWBS graded stallion Worlds Fair (by World Classic) owned by Katie O'Brien, was consistently placed during the Spring Toscana Tour in Arezzo, Italy.  Her 6 year old son, Graffiti (by Graf Height) owned by Philip's groom Charlotte Briggs, has been consistently placed in the young horse classes both in Arezzo and this week in Hardelot France, where he came 2nd in a six year old class.  We hope that her daughters Kournikova (by Romanov) and Darya-I-Nur (by Diamant de Semilly) will be as successful.

27 March 2009 - At last!!!!  Finally Macy has had her foal - a very long legged bay colt by Romanov.  He is called Berbatov, much to Tracey's disgust as she is a Chelsea fan!

8 March 2009 - Due to a gap in Romanov's competition calendar, we are delighted to be able to offer Romanov semen fresh or chilled for a limited period from around 6 April to 30 April.  Contact us for more details and terms.

22 February 2009 - CSI3* Villeneuve Loubet Tour Week 2 - Romanov finished 7th today in the Grand Prix at CSI3* Villeneuve Loubet.  He also finished 4th in his other world ranking class of the weekend.

15 February 2009 - CSI3* Villeneuve Loubet Tour Week 1 - Romanov has jumped double clear and finished 6th today in the Grand Prix at CSI3* Villeneuve Loubet.  In his first outdoor show of the year he finished 6th and 9th in the other two world ranking classes of the weekend, clear all the way.

27 December 2008 - CSI3* / 5* Mechelen - Romanov has competed in the 3* show in Mechelen and he was placed 6th in the opening 1.45m class and 10th in the second finishing 4th overall from 54 competitors to be one of the five qualifiers for the 5* Grand Prix.

19 December 2008 - CSI 5* La Coruna - Romanov has been placed in a 1.50m class at the prestigious 5* show at La Coruna in Spain.

18 October 2008 - CSIW Helsinki - Romanov has moved on to the World Cup qualifying show in Helsinki.  On Saturday he finished 10th in the Grand Prix.

12 October 2008 - CSIW Oslo - Romanov competed at his first World Cup qualifying show this weekend in the Norwegian capital city of Oslo.  He jumped double clear in the opening day's 1.50m class to finish tenth.

28 September 2008 - HOYS Qualifier Towerlands - Romanov was in superb form during the Horse of the Year Wild Card Qualifier at Towerlands this weekend.  Having competed outdoors the week before in Italy, he took to indoors competition very well and won the overall competition by a massive 10 points being the only horse not to have a fence all weekend.  In the 1.40m jump off class on Friday he finished 4th.  He improved to 3rd in the 1.45m speed class on Saturday before finishing 2nd in the 1.50m Grand Prix on Sunday.

31 August 2008 - CSI3* Den Haag - Romanov finished off a successful weekend at the CSI3* Den Haag Benelux Open Championship by jumping double clear in the 1.60m Grand Prix to finish 3rd behind the winner Yves Houtackers and Liza Minelli.  Earlier in the show Romanov had finished 8th in a 1.50m jump off class.  In the overall standings for the weekend he finished 4th in the Championship.

10 August 2008 - CSIO5* Dublin - Romanov was selected as part of the British 5 strong squad for the Super League show at Royal Dublin Horse Show and finished in the money.  The rest of the squad for the Nations Cup were Nick Skelton on Arko, Tim Gredley on Omelli, Peter Charles on Rubert and Robert Smith on Vangelis.  Philip and Romanov were reserves for the Nations Cup which the others won in fine form.  Romanov qualified for the Grand Prix and in the Power & Speed 1.50m class he finished 6th behind Jessica Kuerten and Castle Forbes Cosma.

27 July 2008 - CSI3* Vimeiro - Romanov has been in fine form at the CSI3* in Vimeiro.  He finished 4th in the Grand Prix behind Michel Blaton on Kalimera.

13 July 2008 -CSI3* Vichy - Romanov has been in fine form at the CSI3* in Vichy.  On the first day he finished 4th in the Big Tour jump off class with a double clear.  On Sunday he kept another clean sheet to finish 4th in the Grand Prix behind Jerome Hurel and Kho de Presle.

15 June 2008 - Romanov finished his successful tour of Portugal by finishing 6th in the Grand Prix at CSI4* Portimao behind Graham Lovegrove on Pandur.

8 June 2008 - Romanov jumped double clear to finish 2nd in the Grand Prix at CSI4* Ponte de Lima behind Michel Hecart on Tini Candy.

25 May 2008 - Romanov jumped clear in the first round of the CSIO5* Nations Cup to help Team GB win in Lisbon.  Romanov and Philip Spivey were victorious with team members Tim Gredley on Timo, Charlotte Platt on Lacanda and Robert Whitaker on Lacroix.  The team won on 9 faults ahead of a strong Dutch team on 12 faults.  Romanov was placed 8th in the opening day's 1.50m class and he also picked up world ranking points in the Grand Prix.  A great haul for his first 5* show.

4 May 2008 - Our second foal of the year has been born. Tsarova is sired by our stallion Romanov out of our KWPN keur mare Merriment (Voltaire). Click here for more details.

March 2008 - The stud's first foal of the year has been born.  She is a dark bay filly by Diamant de Semilly out of Broadstone Duette (Demonstrator x Damnatz).  The filly, named Darya-I-Nur,  is therefore a half sister to Worlds Fair and Graffiti (both ridden by Philip Spivey internationally). March 2008 - Romanov has been placed 2nd and 8th on two occasions in 1.50m classes and 10th in a 1.45m jump off class during the March Toscana Tour in Arezzo.  He was also 10th in the week 2 Grand Prix won by Daniel Deusser and Air Jordan.

January 2008 - We are very proud to announce that Romanov was ranked 133rd in the FEI Best Horse and Rider Combination for 2007.

30 December 2007 - Romanov was placed 9th with a double clear in the Zangersheide Stallion Class at CSI5* Mechelen behind Albert Zoer on Lincoln.  He was also placed 10th in the CSI3* Grand Prix behind Tim Hoster on Casanova Junior.

9 December 2007 - Romanov was placed 4th in the Grand Prix at CSI3* Porto behind Tomas Couve on Madona VII.

1 December 2007 - Romanov won the Addington Manor Christmas Grand Prix in an exciting 'Take Your Own Line' jump off ahead of Guy Williams, Sophie Tobin, Tim Stockdale and Robert Smith.

21 October 2007 - Romanov won the Prix Toubin Clement - Master Stallion class at CSI3* Caen, ahead of Roger Yves Bost on Jalis de Riverland.

30 September 2007 - Romanov had a successful tour to Portugal, winning the Grand Prix at CSI 3* Portimao, having finished 2nd in the Big Tour class on Friday.  At the Nations Cup show in Lisbon, he had only one fence down over the two rounds and ended up being the best of the Brits.  Finally in Vimeiro he came 3rd in a 1.50m jump off class before being placed in the Grand Prix with a clear in the first round.

30 August 2007 - Simply Special (a filly foal by Romanov - picture below), owned by Sharon Mills and bred out of her mare Miss Ramexico has today won the Sport Horse Foal Class and the Hunter Foal Class at Bucks County.

22 July 2007 - Romanov has had a successful trip to the CSI 2* in Le Touquet, France and two CSI 3* shows in Vimeiro, Portugal.  He jumped in five world ranking classes and picked up points in all five, with his best results being 2nd and 4th in 1.50m classes in Vimeiro.

19 June 2007 - Romanov has been upgraded to a Gold BSJA Elite Stallion as a result of his appearance on a British Nations Cup Team at the CSIO4* Nations Cup show in Hamina, Finland.

17 June 2007 - Romanov made his first appearance on a British Team this weekend at the CSIO4* Nations Cup show in Hamina, Finland.  The team made their own piece of history by being the first GB Nations Cup team to compete in Finland since the Gold Medal winning team (including Foxhunter) at the Helsinki Olympic Games in 1952.  Fittingly Romanov was one of two Foxhunter Champions on the team, the other being Opportunity B.  The team of 2007 finished 5th with Romanov jumping for four faults in round one and an extremely unlucky eight faults in round 2.  At the same show Romanov jumped one of only five clear rounds in the the first round of the Grand Prix.
