Calipso's sire, Couleur Rubin, has a very interesting pedigree. Couleur Rubin's dam line (Voila - line) has predominantly produced jumping horses including five approved stallions. With the pairing of Ramino, Voila produced the elite mare Rumina. This mare crossed with Grannus produced the international showjumper and approved stallion Gio Granno (Franke Sloothak). Gio Granno's full sister (and Couleur Rubin's dam), Grannuschka, is a state premium approved, elite mare and she has also produced the Holsteiner stallion and Bremen Grand Prix winner, Conterno Grande.

Grannuschka and Cordalmé Z produced Couleur Rubin, granted Premium at his stallion approval, Vice Bundeschampion in Warendorf and placed in the World Cup Final in Las Vegas. Couleur Rubin's full brother, Couleur Rouge was the highest ranked jumper in the Oldenburg stallion approvals in 2004.

Calipso's motherline is a combination of the legendary Ramiro Z and the thoroughbred stallion Exkurs.  The mare line (Kieni- stam) has already produced the KWPN approved stallions Opan and Nobility.
